What To Expect

We will work with you to make sure your horse gets the best possible care.

Consultation Session: This session will be your horse’s first session and will consist of a 30-minute observation session, where your horse’s gait will be analysed to check for lameness or gait abnormalities. We will observe your horse being trotted up on concrete, on a lunge, and under the saddle if your horse is ridden. We will then physically examine your horse, feeling for muscle stiffness or abnormalities. We will also have a discussion about your intake sheet and any problems that your horse may be having.

After The Consultation, I will give your horse a 60-minute bodywork session. This could include massage therapy, stretching, and myofacial release techniques, depending on your horse’s needs. After your horse’s massage, if I feel it necessary, I will provide you with an exercise therapy plan and some at-home stretches to help maintain your horse’s suppleness and strength until the next session.

Follow Up Sessions: Bodywork sessions are typically 60-minutes, and include a quick trot up to check your horse’s way of going, and a catch up about how your horse has been getting on in between sessions.

After a bodywork session, it is likely that your horse will be very relaxed and sleepy, so it is not recommended to exercise them until the following day. We will be giving you aftercare advice and for your horse to get the most out of their bodywork, it is recommended that this advice is followed until the next session. It may take a few sessions for you to begin to notice a difference in your horse, depending on whether or not your horse has underlying health conditions, and what improvement goals you have.
